What Are Dental Bridges?
If one or several of your teeth are missing, it's more than just your smile that's impacted — missing teeth can cause other teeth to shift out of place, leading to extra tension when you bite, increased pain during chewing, or even difficulty speaking. A dental bridge improves the appearance and health of your smile by filling in spaces with a false tooth supported by either your natural teeth, dental implants, or both. At R. Asher Henegar, D.D.S., P.A. in Colorado Springs, CO, dentist Dr. Asher Henegar offers custom bridges made with top-quality materials that will help restore your smile. If you have missing teeth, schedule an appointment with Dr. Henegar to learn about your restoration options with a custom bridge.
Dental Bridges Reviews
"I'm elderly and had bad teeth all my life, so I've had a lot of dental care including fillings, crowns, root canals, and bridges. Dr. Henegar is by far THE best dentist I've ever had! If he had been my dentist all my life, I wouldn't be having some of the issues I have now. So many of the newer dentists just want to make teeth pretty, I just want mine to be functional so I can eat a good steak now and then. Dr. Henegar has exceeded my expectations!"- E.W. / Google / Feb 09, 2021
What To Expect From a Dental Bridge
Your dental bridge appointment will begin by filing down your supporting teeth. Once finished, Dr. Henegar will take digital images and dental impressions so your bridge can be created. Your bridge will be created utilizing our CEREC same-day restoration technology. Once your dental bridge is ready, the needed areas of your mouth may be given local anesthesia. The bridge will either be cemented into place or attached to dental implants, depending on the support you and Dr. Henegar decided on at your consultation. Dr. Henegar will adjust the fit of the bridge so it feels right in your mouth and will remain in place. We may schedule a follow-up visit at R. Asher Henegar, D.D.S., P.A. to alter your bridge's fit if it feels uncomfortable in the first few weeks after placement. Dr. Henegar or an assistant on his team will teach you how to maintain your bridge, including the ways to keep it clean and any foods to avoid. It is important to frequently clean your bridge and mouth since cavities can develop under the bridge. With proper care, your bridge may last for many years. Dr. Henegar will continue to monitor your bridge during your annual dental exams and biannual cleanings.
