What is a CEREC Single-Visit Restoration?

In the past, restorations required at least two dentist visits since physical impressions were created and shipped to a dental laboratory. Dentist Dr. Asher Henegar is pleased to offer CEREC technology for one-visit restorations. CEREC, which stands for ceramic reconstruction, utilizes computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing equipment to produce your restoration at our Colorado Springs, CO office while you wait. R. Asher Henegar, D.D.S., P.A. utilizes the CEREC system to generate custom bridges, crowns, and more. The CEREC system can also be utilized for cosmetic treatments, like making custom veneers. This revolutionary system permits you to bypass the hassle and time of physical dental impressions and temporary covers, making for a convenient, easy-to-schedule appointment. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Henegar at his office in Colorado Springs, CO to learn more about CEREC restorations.

What to Expect From CEREC Same-Day Restorations

Your CEREC procedure will begin by building your personal treatment plan. The process will start with Dr. Henegar taking an electronic scan of your teeth. The scan will allow him to manufacture your restoration effectively and precisely. From there, your restoration will be sent to the CEREC system to be created. The amount of time needed to create your restoration will be based on its size. Once the restoration is created, Dr. Henegar can finish and polish the piece before putting it in position. He may modify the restoration so it's comfortable and blends with your natural teeth. After your CEREC restoration is complete, it's important that you keep up a good at-home dental hygiene regimen. You should also schedule annual dental exams and biannual cleanings at our office in Colorado Springs, CO. At each appointment, Dr. Henegar will check your restoration and perform any needed repairs or alterations that will help keep your teeth healthy. If cared for correctly, ceramic dental restorations can remain in place for many years.

CEREC FAQs

How long do CEREC crowns last?

Usually, CEREC crowns will last our patients anywhere from 10 – 15 years. However, the life span of the crown can be reduced with undesirable behavior, such as biting down or grinding the teeth.

Are CEREC crowns covered by insurance?

Most dental insurance plans do cover CEREC crowns. The exact level of coverage will vary from one provider to another. We encourage our patients to speak with their insurance agency to inquire about costs before scheduling an appointment for CEREC crowns.

Can CEREC crowns be used on my front teeth?

We generally only recommend using CEREC crowns on molars. Patients who have broken or chipped front teeth should consider one of our other services, such as porcelain veneers.
